Why is Artspace closed?
Artspace is undergoing building improvement works. These works include an upgrade to the HVAC system (the internal cooling system).
How long will Artspace be closed for?
Artspace will be closed from December 4 until late June 2024, weather permitting.
Will Foodspace Café be open during the closure?
Foodspace Cafe will be temporarily closed while the MECC is closed for essential maintenance from Monday, January 8, 2024. Follow their social media channels to stay up to date.

Where will the Artspace team be located during the closure period?
Part of the Artspace team will be moving to the 'Quiet space' in Dudley Denny Library in the City Centre. This will allow them to continue to work on the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection.
Can I still view the Mackay Regional Art Collection?
Yes, the collection is available online to view.
What programs will Artspace continue to run during the closure period?
Artspace will continue to run many of their regular programs, at alternative venues across the region. The BMA Kidspace, Conversations with Art, Kids Art Club, Art and Memory and Artists’ Book of the Month programs will continue to run. For the most up to date details, visit the Artspace website or their social media channels.
Will the gallery shop be open at a different location during the closure?
No, the gallery shop will be closed during this period too.
