Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise that the Bloomsbury water main tender has been awarded to Utilstra Pty Ltd.

The project will provide treated water from the Midge Point township to the Bloomsbury township. This will be done via the installation of a new 11 kilometre water main, a new booster pump station, storage tanks and chlorination facility along Midge Point Road. The new water main will provide better water supply and quality to residents in the Bloomsbury region.

The contractor is expecting to start work late March and anticipates the project to be completed by April 2025, weather permitting.

Works will start at the Bruce Highway end of the project and continue along Midge Point Road. The works will be completed in stages. There will be traffic control in place for the works and we ask all motorists to please follow all site signage in the area.

There will be driveway interruptions for the works. The contractor's site supervisor will contact residents prior to any interruptions occurring.

There will be dust and noise associated with various plant and equipment on site. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience during these works.

Property owners who have chosen to connect into the new water main, will receive a phone call from our water team prior to the works to complete the necessary paperwork for the connection.

Should you have any questions about the project, please contact the contractor's Site Supervisor, Pratish Aryal on 0435 127 310 or council's Community Engagement team on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).

Proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Building our Regions program and Mackay Regional Council.
