East Gordon Street water main upgrade

Project update: This project has been completed.

Water main upgrade works, to improve the reliability of the service to the CBD, South and East Mackay areas, commenced Monday, June 12, weather permitting. 

The final works, including the installation of a new water main at Goldsmith Street will begin on Thursday, December 14, weather permitting. These works are expected to be completed the week starting Monday, December 18, weather permitting.

The work will be undertaken during the hours of 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and occur during 8am to 5pm on Sunday.

From Thursday, December 14 to Friday, December 15, minimal traffic disruptions are expected. Some parking along Goldsmith Street will be unavailable.

On Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17, a full road closure is scheduled for a section of Goldsmith Street – please refer to the map below. Detours will be in place, and we ask motorists to please follow all site signage.

Only motorists residing within the indicated local access zone will be able to access this section of the street during this time.

The Queens Park entrance along Goldsmith Street will only be accessible from the south.

There will be very minor works undertaken during the week starting, December 18. Minimal traffic disruptions are expected and some parking along Goldsmith Street will be unavailable.

There will also be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on site. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience during these essential works.
