Council is developing a new Inclusive Communities Action Plan. Let us know your thoughts on how we can better support people with disability and groups with mobility and accessibility concerns. This diverse group includes older people, carers with prams, people who speak English as a second language and those with sensory or other neurodiversity needs.

We want to make the Mackay region a more inclusive place for people of all ages, abilities, cultural backgrounds and genders.

So, what is an inclusive community? Inclusive communities are defined by:

• accessible places, including streets, transport, community facilities, businesses and outdoor spaces that are easy to use for people of all ages, cultural
backgrounds and abilities
• easy to access information and the ability to communicate with council via a range of formats
• positive and welcoming community attitudes and behaviours, and inclusive services, programs, activities and events.
