Mirani Community Precinct

Bringing together significant sites and services, the Mirani Community Precinct will celebrate the uniqueness of the town, its people and history.

The rich history showcased by Mirani Community Precinct will excite visitors and capitalise on the Pioneer Valley’s appeal as a tourism destination. The precinct will promote Mirani as a great place to live while supporting residents, businesses and visitors.

Mirani is the key service centre for government and community services and will cater to a growing population.

The enhancement of community and cultural facilities within the precinct has enormous potential for the Pioneer Valley. The truly unique and authentic community hub will contribute to a stronger sense of both place and identity for residents and visitors.

The iconic “main street” of Mirani boasts a central median park, with mango trees, railway line, old station building and landscaping. The community precinct will protect this central feature of the town and enhance it.

Throughout the planning process, extensive consultation has been undertaken with site stakeholders in Mirani community to maximise opportunities for functional integration and community gathering spaces.

Council was excited to uncover the original Spanish Missionary structure of the Council Chambers which will be preserved as part of the precinct.

The community precinct will include:

• the Mirani Museum
• the Mirani Library
• community workshop spaces
• community meeting spaces
• youth space
• MRC Customer Service Centre and QGAP services
• BOQ sub-branch
• MRC’s Civil Engineering and Pest Management teams
• local hair salon
• public toilets.
