Hume Street water main replacement

Project update: This project is completed.

Water main replacement works to occur on Hume Street from Bridge Road to Lagoon Street. These works are necessary to replace an existing aged water main, ensuring the long-term reliability of our water network.

The work is scheduled to begin from Monday, May 30, and take approximately 12 weeks, weather permitting. Works will be undertaken Monday to Friday from 6am to 4pm, with weekend works as required.

Occasional night works may occur from Sunday to Friday from 7pm to 5am. Noise-impacted residents will be notified at least 48-hours’ prior to the night works commencing.

All attempts will be made to minimise the impact on residents and road users. Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the works, however two-lane access will be maintained where possible.

There will be no disruptions to ambulances which will be given priority through the site as required

At times Garraway and Oates streets will be closed to complete the works. However, access for residents will be maintained and detours will be in place to ensure access to and from Hume Street.

As driveway access on both sides of the road may be impacted at times, affected residents will receive 24 hours’ notice with a request to find alternative parking for their vehicles.

Street parking along Hume Street from Bridge Road to Lagoon Street will be reduced throughout the project. The areas where car parking is unavailable will change as the work progresses.

To complete the project there will be some water interruptions, however residents will receive 48-hours’ notice of any water interruption and every effort will be made to ensure interruptions are scheduled at a time that will have the least impact.

There will also be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on site. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience during these essential works.
