Local contractor Vassallo Constructions Pty Ltd will be undertaking works to the Goldsmith and Evan streets intersection. These works will improve safety for road users, pedestrians and property owners in the area.

Works are expected to commence from Monday, July 3, 2023, and take place over a four-week period, weather permitting. The works will be completed in sections, and workers will be onsite periodically over the four-week period.

The work hours are Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am to 5pm, as required. Minimal traffic impacts are expected. Please follow all site signage when in place.

The works include the removal of existing line marking near the roundabout, replacement line marking which will include approach curves, chevron marking and rumble bars to lower the speed of road users as they enter the roundabout. Two safety bollards will also be installed on the corner of Evan and Goldsmith streets to help provide protection for business’ premises on this corner.

To enhance the visibility of the roundabout, the outer concrete ring will be painted terracotta in a herringbone pattern, this will provide better visual awareness for motorists and assist in slowing vehicles.

To reduce the speed of traffic on Evan Street, between Goldsmith Street and Binnington Esplanade, there will be an indented tee intersection where McIntyre Street meets Evan Street. The new line marking will include approach curves, chevron marking and rumble bars.

There will be a reduction in on-street parking to allow for the revised line markings and to improve visibility for vehicles and pedestrians.

All attempts will be made to minimise the impact on residents and road users. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience during these essential works.

Should you have any concerns regarding the project please contact the project manager, Ben Heit from Vassallo Constructions on 0419 128 865 or Ricardo Bijos on 1300 MACKAY (622 529)
