Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise that contractor Pentacon, will undertake works to upgrade the Bell Creek Bridge, Munbura Road. A new two-lane concrete bridge will be constructed just upstream from the aged existing single-lane timber bridge.

The works will begin mid-February, 2025, weather permitting. The works are expected to be completed late October, 2025. Please refer to map of the area of works.

The works will be undertaken from 6.30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Some work on Sundays may be required.

Traffic control, which includes single-lane traffic and reduced speed zones, will be in place while the bridge is being constructed. Minimal traffic delays are expected.

As part of the works for this project, two sets of nearby culverts will also be upgraded at the sites indicated on the map overleaf. While the culvert works are under way, traffic control will also be in place at these sites when required.

Where possible, as many of the existing trees will be retained. However, as part of these works, two trees require removal.

There will be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on-site. Increased noise is expected for a three-week period from late March, 2025, weather permitting, as piling work is undertaken.

Please note that drone technology will be used throughout the project for assisting with surveying and capturing the progress of the works.

We thank you for your patience during these essential works.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact council’s Community Engagement team on 1300 MACKAY (622 529) or engagement@mackay.qld.gov.au

This project has been funded by the Australian Government in partnership with Mackay Regional Council.
