Project update: March 14, 2025

The project will provide treated water from the Midge Point township to the Bloomsbury township. This will be done via the installation of a new 11-kilometre water main, a new booster pump station, storage tanks and a chlorination facility along Midge Point Road. The new water pipeline will provide better water supply and quality to residents in the Bloomsbury region. Please see map below.
Contractor Utilstra Pty Ltd began work in April 2024. The project is expected to be completed in June 2025, weather permitting.
The laying of the 11-kilometre water main is nearing completion and works are in progress for the booster pump station.
Upcoming works include construction of the booster pump station with a chlorine dosing plant, pressure testing of the water mains and construction of the storage tanks.
There will be traffic control in place for the works and we ask all motorists to please follow site signage in the area.
In addition, there may be driveway interruptions during the works. The contractor’s site supervisor will contact residents prior to any interruptions occurring.
There will be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on site. Council thanks you for your patience during these essential works.
Should you have any questions about the project, please contact the contractor’s Site Supervisor, Jasper Mestridge, on 0452 018 650 or me on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
This project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Building our Regions program and Mackay Regional Council.
