The Mackay region is particularly prone to cyclones, but we are also faced with the threat of bushfires, floods, storms and extreme heat over the summer months.
It's important, that as a community, each and every one of us takes the time to prepare our homes, properties and families.
Council will hold its annual Disaster Ready Saturday event at Caneland Central this Saturday (November 16) from 9am to 1pm outside Telstra and towards the Suncorp entrance of the shopping centre.
Come along and talk to the experts and grab yourself an Emergency Action Guide, check out the storm tide and evacuation zone maps, and complete a Disaster Ready survey to go into the draw to win a Honda generator worth $2300 thanks to Mackay Outdoor Power Centre.
The survey will be on Connecting Mackay until 11.59pm on Sunday, November 24. Please submit your completed survey before this time to go into the draw to win the generator. Terms and conditions apply.
The winner will be drawn on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, and notified.
