Langfords Park upgrade
Council has developed a master plan for the Langfords Park upgrade in Eton.
The plan is based on feedback that was gathered during the community consultation activities in November 2023.
The plan includes details for stage one works as well as future stages.
Stage one includes:
- A new playground relocated closer to the park’s oval with roofed shade and covered seating for parents. The play equipment will cater for a wider age range, 0 to 12 years, and the area will be fully fenced.
- A formalised entry from Hill Street with a 1.5-metre-wide concrete path connecting to the picnic and playground facilities.
- A new picnic shelter with an electric barbecue and picnic setting overlooking the park’s oval.
- Footy goal posts added to the oval.
- A retrofitted lockable gate to the internal road to prevent vehicles cutting through the park. The gate can be opened to allow access when needed by the Pony Club or others using the park.
- Water bubbler and additional shade trees.

Future works include:
- Extending the concrete path around the southern side of the oval to provide direct connection to the highway, playground and the public toilets at the Pony Club.
- New disabled toilet facilities within the park.
- Formalised car parking within the park.
- Upgrades to the area around the War Memorial.
- Additional shade trees.

The detailed design for stage one of the Langfords Park upgrade has been completed and construction is forecast in the 2024-2025 financial year.
Of note - council is also in the process of designing a shared footpath at the top of the park, along the Peak Downs Highway, for better connectivity in the area. The design is expected to be completed this year with construction subject to the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
