Council’s vision is to become the best region for liveability and livelihood.
Liveability is at the forefront of many of council’s operations and is captured in our Corporate and Operational plans.
Council also has a Liveability and Social Inclusion Strategic Advisory Committee, co-chaired by Deputy Mayor Karen May and Cr Ash-Lee Johnson.
In 2023, Mackay Regional Council took part in the Australian Liveability Census, which invites local communities to share what is important to them and how local neighbourhoods are performing compared to other parts of Australia.
Council plans to also take part in the next Australian Liveability Census in 2025.
In the meantime, we’d like to check the “pulse” of the community in terms of their thoughts on liveability in our region.
