Midge Point watermain cleaning works
Council has engaged a highly skilled contractor, Flo-Max Australia, to clean the watermains supplying the Midge Point township.
The works will involve a combination of pipeline pigging and air scouring to address the continued water quality issues.
The works will be completed in two stages.
Stage one will involve the cleaning of watermains from the Kelsey Creek Water Treatment Plant to Kunapipi Road.
These works will be undertaken from Tuesday, November 19 to Friday, November 22, 2024, weather permitting.
As a result of these works, residents and businesses residing in the stage 1 area will have their water supply interrupted from 5am on Tuesday, November 19 until 5pm Friday, November 22.
Council has contacted the properties impacted by the stage 1 works and temporary measures have been put in place including the provision of drinking water during the interruption.
The stage one works are expected to be completed by 5pm, Friday, November 22 and water restored.
Stage two will involve the cleaning of the watermains from Kunapipi Road to the Midge Point Road / Conder Parade intersection from Monday, December 9 to Wednesday, December 11. As a result of these works, water interruptions will occur. Council will notify those impacted.
At the completion of the works, those impacted are asked to run their tap for a few minutes for the clean water to filter through. If the water continues to be slightly discoloured for 24 hours, please contact Project Manager Jordan Bella on 0428 052 485 or council on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
