Vassallo Constructions, on behalf of council has completed the Pioneer River flood levee project. 

The works included installing a new earthen levee, a block levee wall and additional stormwater drainage outlets behind Valetta Gardens in Glenella.

A floodgate was also installed at the end of Joseph Court to provide access for maintenance vehicles, as well as pedestrians.

These works will address the current outflow and inundation issues which exist in the area.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Preparing Australian Communities Fund and Mackay Regional Council.
