Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise residents of planned water main connection works in Stevenson Street. An aged water main was upgraded in 2023, and council is now undertaking connection works. This will increase water pressure and volume in the area. Please refer to map.
Stage two of the works is scheduled to start Monday, November 4, 2024, with completion expected by early December, 2025, weather permitting.
This work will be undertaken during the hours of 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required.
All attempts will be made to minimise the impact on residents. Two-lane traffic will be maintained along Stevenson Street. However, parking on the western side of the road will be unavailable for the duration of the project. Traffic control will be in place occasionally while equipment is delivered on site.
While works are under way, property access may also be affected to residents on the western side of Stevenson Street. Affected residents will be contacted 48 hours prior to any disruption.
To complete the project there will be some water interruptions, however residents will receive 48-hours’ notice of any water interruption and every effort will be made to ensure interruptions are scheduled at a time that will have the least impact.
There will also be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on site. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience during these essential works.
If you have any queries, please contact Carl Teske on 0436 812 948 or 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
