The walking path through Cone Street Park

This project is completed.

We will be undertaking improvement works at Cone Street Park from mid- February and will continue until late August 2021, weather permitting.

Works will be conducted between 6.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Community feedback indicated that residents valued the open space provided by the park and believed that the design should utilise the park’s open and level space. The final design envisioned Cone Street Park as an extension to Shoal Point Park.

It is proposed to develop additional recreational opportunities for residents which complement those available at the beachfront.

These improvements include new all-abilities pathways, a new half court facility and picnic shelter.

Care has been taken to keep as many of the existing trees as possible and more will be planted. Three trees in total will be removed. One tree which is deceased and two coconut palm trees located on the street frontage to provide a DDA compliant footpath allowing access to the park. Additional 11 shade tree will be planted.

Residents are advised that the park will be closed to the public for the duration of the project’s construction and some noise and dust disturbance is expected.

Council thanks you for your patience and apologises for any inconvenience.

Update: Council held a community consultation session in Cone Street Park on June 15, 2019 to help us better understand the community's priorities when designing the park. An online survey also remained open for one month.

We thank all residents for their input which will now be used to guide the design process.
