Paradise and Webberley streets intersection upgrade
Council is upgrading the intersection at Paradise and Webberley streets in West Mackay to improve safety in the area.
The project includes the provision of:
- Additional lanes through the intersection to facilitate two-lane through traffic, north and south.
- Signalisation at the intersection for a right turn from Paradise Street into Webberley Street.
- Signalisation at the intersection for a right turn from Webberley Street into Paradise Street.
- Signalised pedestrian access through the intersection.
- A slip lane with give way into Webberley Street from Paradise Street south.
- A designated bike lane through the intersection.
- Pathway connectivity to existing pathways in Paradise Street, Webberley Street and the bus stop.
Stage one of the works are completed, which included, the northern drainage and subgrade replacement for the entire project.
Stage two of the works will commence from Monday, June 17, and include the southern stormwater drainage works, subbase pavement layer and pavement widening, and reconstruction of Webberley Street.
As a result of these works, the following traffic management will be in place until the end of the project:
- Ulanda Drive will be closed at Paradise Street. Access via Napier Street.
- Denton Street will be closed at Paradise Street. Access via Milton, Napier or Warland streets.
- No right entry or exit to Amiet and Graffunder streets from Paradise Street.
- The intersection at Simpson and Webberley Street will be closed with local traffic access only.
- The current road closure on Webberley Street, Simpson to Paget streets and George Milton streets, will continue with local traffic access only.
- The parking bays along Paradise Street between Graffunder and Amiet streets will be closed to allow for safe two-way traffic.
- The north bound bus stop on Paradise Street will be temporarily relocated opposite Chauvel Street.
- The south bound bus stop on Paradise Street will be temporarily relocated to the corner of Chauvel and Paradise streets.

This project is on track to be completed by December 2024, weather permitting.
