Paradise and Webberley streets intersection upgrade
Council is upgrading the intersection at Paradise and Webberley streets in West Mackay to improve safety in the area.
The project includes the provision of:
- Additional lanes through the intersection to facilitate two-lane through traffic, north and south.
- Signalisation at the intersection for a right turn from Paradise Street into Webberley Street.
- Signalisation at the intersection for a right turn from Webberley Street into Paradise Street.
- Signalised pedestrian access through the intersection.
- A slip lane with give way into Webberley Street from Paradise Street south.
- A designated bike lane through the intersection.
- Pathway connectivity to existing pathways in Paradise Street, Webberley Street and the bus stop.
Council have completed all the concrete drainage works, the underground services for the project, constructed the footpaths and completed majority of the asphalt works.
Works will recommence on Monday, January 6, to complete the remaining works, the installation of concrete islands on Paradise Street, traffic lights and streetlights and landscaping and tree planting.
Please note, the following traffic conditions will be in place:
- Graffunder Street off Paradise Street will be reopened to all traffic.
- Ulanda Drive and Denton Street at the Paradise Street end will be reopened to traffic. Left entry and exit only.
- Left entry and exit to Amiet Street from Paradise Street will continue.
- The intersection at Simpson and Webberley Street will continue to be closed with local traffic access only.
- The road closure on Webberley Street, Simpson to Paget streets and George Milton Street, will continue with local traffic access only.
- The parking bays along Paradise Street between Graffunder and Amiet streets will continue to be closed to allow for safe two-way traffic.
- The temporary bus stops on Paradise Street will continue to operate until the completion of the works.

This project is expected to be completed by March 2025, weather permitting.
